Paul S. Hopewell has been a shareholder at O’Meara, Leer, Wagner & Kohl, P.A. since 2003. Mr. Hopewell focuses his practice on insurance-related civil litigation in commercial and personal lines matters. This includes litigating claims, providing coverage opinions, as well as advising businesses and insurers on risk-management issues. Mr. Hopewell provides comprehensive legal and business advice to commercial and personal insurers, as well as businesses. He has successfully handled numerous civil liability and coverage claims in the areas of automobile-related cases, commercial transportation, dram shop claims, homeowner’s issues, fire-related matters and fraud.
Mr. Hopewell is a lead member of the O’Meara, Leer, Wagner & Kohl, P.A. commercial transportation emergency response team which supervises, advises and coordinates immediate scene investigations of serious accidents. He has significant experience working with insurance adjusters, businesses, employees, accident reconstructionists and engineering experts in order to prepare liability defenses, preserve evidence and avoid spoliation claims.
In addition, Mr. Hopewell is a frequent lecturer on motor vehicle related topics, which include No-Fault, Uninsured and Underinsured motorist claims, Bad-Faith and fraud related issues. He heads the No-Fault, Uninsured and Underinsured Practice Section of the Firm. Mr. Hopewell has also been selected by his peers as a Minnesota “Super Lawyer”, in Law & Politics from 2010 through 2012. He has also achieved an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale Hubbel.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Hopewell was a four year letter winner and two year starter for the University of Minnesota football team from 1988-1991. He continues to enthusiastically follow his Golden Gophers. Outside the office, Mr. Hopewell spends his time with his wife, Michelle, and daughters, Isabelle and twins Olivia and AvaMarie.
