Morgan A. Godfrey
In his over 25 years of litigation experience, and his diverse representation of individuals, businesses, governmental entities and insurance carriers, Attorney Morgan Godfrey has provided countless benefits to a wide variety of O’Meara, Leer, Wagner & Kohl, P.A.'s clients. He has successfully pursued or defended many lawsuits involving employment claims, charges of discrimination, civil rights claims, construction claims, commercial contract disputes, products liability actions, franchise disputes, fire litigation and insurance coverage proceedings. He has advised clients on Medicare Secondary Payer compliance. He concentrates his work in the Firm’s Employment, Medicare Compliance, Government Liability, Education Law, Construction and Insurance Coverage practice areas.
His substantial trial and appellate practice includes the defense of municipalities in civil rights claims, sex, age and race discrimination claims, the defense of both public and private clients in contract litigation, construction litigation, professional liability, franchise disputes and insurance coverage claims. As with his litigation experience, Mr. Godfrey’s publications and continuing legal education faculty experience reflect his depth and diversity of knowledge.
He has authored or lectured on such topics as retaliation claims in the employment setting, the interactive process under the American with Disabilities Act, how to avoid liability for harassment claims, employee investigation fundamentals, employee separation agreements, governmental discipline of students and staff, coverage issues raised by construction contracts, insurance subrogation fundamentals, and first-party property and business interruption coverage. Mr. Godfrey chairs the Firm's Employment Practice Group and Medicare Compliance Group. He actively mentors the Firm's attorneys on handling related matters.
