Chief Justice Gildea Asks Legislators for Changes to Certain Deadlines Due to COVID-19

On March 19, 2020, Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Lorie Gildea asked legislative leaders to toll certain deadlines during the period of peacetime emergency, and in some cases, for a period of 60 days thereafter.  These include:

  • deadlines impacting speedy trial demands
  • implied consent hearings
  • vehicle forfeitures
  • unemployment compensation appeals
  • eviction proceedings
  • child support adjustments
  • garnishment proceedings
